What is Invisalign and how does it work?
Invisalign is a nearly invisible method of straightening your teeth and an alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign patients are fitted with removable, see-through aligners that have been customized to fit their teeth. The aligners gradually cause your teeth to shift their position slightly over a period of two weeks.
Every two weeks, you will change the aligners for a new set that will cause your teeth to move a little more. As the treatment progresses over weeks and months, your teeth will straighten into their proper positions, as prescribed by your dental practitioner.
What are aligners made of, and what do they look like?
The virtually invisible aligners are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan. They look similar to teeth-whitening trays. Every patient receives a series of Invisalign aligners that are custom-made for you.
How does Invisalign straighten teeth?
Invisalign aligners move your teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force. You will receive a series of custom mad aligners for your mouth and teeth.
Each aligner makes slight adjustments to tooth position, a process that is mapped out in advance by your doctor, specifically for your situation. When the aligners are placed on the teeth, they cause the teeth to gradually shift from their current position.
During each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move. Every two weeks, you will switch to the next set of aligners, which will continue the teeth straightening process.
What are the primary benefits of Invisalign braces over metal braces?
Because Invisalign braces are virtually invisible, no one may even notice that you\’re wearing them.
Unlike metal braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. Wearers can remove the aligners to eat and drink what you want and then brush your teeth before putting them back in. Traditional braces can be very challenging to clean.
There are no metal brackets or wires that cause irritation to your mouth. Invisalign braces don\’t require metal or wire adjustments, meaning you don\’t have to visit your dentist as frequently.

The average length of time for Invisalign treatments in adults is 12 months. The average length of time for a teen patient varies and you will need to consult your doctor. All patients are different and the length of time for your treatment depends on the severity of your case.
How often must I wear my aligners?
You will wear your aligners, every day, all day, including while sleeping. Aligners are most effective when worn 20 to 22 hours per day and removed only for eating, brushing and flossing.
How often must I see my Invisalign doctor?
You will have regularly scheduled appointments every 4-6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
How much does Invisalign cost?
In most cases, Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of traditional braces. However, as with other medical treatments, only your Invisalign-trained doctor can determine the cost, based on your specific needs. Factors affecting the cost may include the difficulty of your case, how long you are in treatment, and your personal goals.
